Suggest a Theme

It’s Saturday, so we’re resting our vocal cords, but it’s the perfect time to think about themes for the holidays and the new year. Book Week, suggested by a reader, was a great success, so we’re eager to hear more suggestions from listeners about what you’d like to hear us talk about in the coming weeks. We’re at your command.

Administrivia

This week we will continue our discussion of politics, with a review around the Republican camps. As you know from listening to last week’s podcasts on the Democrats, we podcast in one sitting and then cut the discussion into five parts. Same thing again this week, but then on Monday, October 29th we’ll get back into live recordings in discrete, one day segments. The hour long conversations were a bit of an experiment on our part, and we think we like the daily episodes better. If you disagree, now is the time to speak up.

Due to some unexpected technical difficulties, we’re having an unplanned break this week from podcasting but back on Monday with a bunch of good stuff.

in which bee goes to arkansas

It’s finally Friday, and we wrap a week’s worth of betacasts with a meandering discussion that travels from the west coast to the east, with occasional mid-continent stopovers. We get ready for some football with today’s theme song, “Hollywood United” by StressB$%ch (an artist name so obscene we dare not speak it on air for fear of losing our ‘clean’ tag). This is podcast No. 5: 28September2007.

in which bee becomes anxious

We betacast our anxieties to the world and ask for feedback from whomever it is who is listening to these words. Is it you? If it is, you can send feedback to bee by becoming a member of the site (register in the lower right-hand margin or just click here) and posting a comment. We anxiously await your reply. Today’s experimental theme song is “City Lights” by Stab the Matador, a band beloved by bulls around the world. This is podcast No. 4: 27September2007.

in which music brings comfort

We are still betacasting and working out the bugs for our new podcast. Bee asks what do we tell ourselves, what music do we play for ourselves, deep inside our own heads, when we need to find comfort. We also experiment with a new theme song, “Beautiful Mess,” by Sol 3. We think it’s quite catchy. This is podcast No. 3: 2007September26.

25th September 2007

in which bee seeks the eggman

More betacasting with bee. In this episode, we try on a new theme song and think about the things we tell ourselves when no one is listening. Like today. So who are you to be here reading and listening? We didn’t think you’d find us so soon. So now that you’re here, what do you say to yourself to find courage?” Today’s trial theme song is “Crazy in the Morning,” by Brene Wilson. How does it fit? This is podcast No. 2: 2007September25.

in which we get started

Everyone has to start somewhere. We started right here. Welcome to our first podcast. This is our soft launch, while we work out the bugs. For the time being, it’s here with no big announcements, no advertising, no word of mouth. Just raw, unedited podcasting for your listening enjoyment. Call it our “betacast.” If you’ve stumbled upon us, have a listen. Comments always welcome. Today’s theme song is “Good Morning Light” by Cellophane Rain. This is podcast No. 1: 2007September24.
